I’d been thinking for some time that the most poetic language that I was seeing was coming from the field of science. This metaphor of the boy in the bubble, of somebody who had such a desire to live but couldn’t live in the world without the protection of being in the bubble because their life would be in jeopardy just by breathing the air. That desire to live—and the fact that the bubble made them isolated— seemed like an apt 20th/21st century metaphor.
